Part of me is happy. Really really, happy. More fans! More people to recognize my cosplaying obscure characters and variant outfits!

On the other hand... I've heard that dubs sometimes do very bad things to characters with the kansai-ben, and I'm scared for Emishi's sake. :/

Yes, let's all pray for Emishi. That he comes across as well as Sorata did (hey! same seiyuu now that I pause and think about it) in the X tv dub, and not like Kitsune did in the Love Hina dub *shivers and wretches* .

Let's just hope the series' overall release values measure up against ADV's other flagship action-oriented bishounen slash-fest of a series.

I wuv Emishi! AHHH! I hate to see what they do to our poor Emishi-han. ;_;

Yeah, I'm happy about it too, since my friend, Rei, is loving the Get Backers manga (which I recommended her buying), she'll love the Anime too, since it's got less female nudity. *heh*

I think ADV will do a good job (I mean...I love Prétear!! WAIII!)...I hope.

Oh wow. ADV, eh? Nice. At least I know they'll release Vol. 1 with a box. Then again, almost everyone does that now. Except Media Blasters.

huzzah! Finally a series I won't MIND shelling out the cash for, even if it breaks me. ^^ And even if the dub sucks (Which I pay it doesn't) At least we know it'll be uncut and available with a Japenese audio track.
I really visualize (I think his name is Johnny something) the same VA who did Vash in Trigun for Ginji. I think he'd be able to pull Ginji's dual nature off very well. ^^

My opinion, they did a great job with Full Metal Panic! and Prétear, so let's see if they give it their all on GB...which they'd better. GB has a pretty big fanbase already. ^^;

ADV? Aw MAN. I hate them. -_- I was hoping for Pioneer or Funimation... My personal opinion of ADV is very low, maybe because I've been an anime fan for so long and ADV used to be HELL, what with shitty release schedules (WHAT THE FUCK TOOK 3 YEARS TO SUBTITLE 26 EPS OF ORPHEN?! REALLY BADLY? ONE OF THE WORST COMMERCIAL TRANSLATIONS I'VE EVER SEEN?!), poor translations/sub scripts, not as many eps per DVD as other companies...

I guess they can use this release as a way to improve what I think of them, the way Funimation did with Fruits Basket... Otherwise, I'll only be buying my favorite episodes. Actually, I may only buy my favorite episodes anyway. (That being 1-26; basically the first season.) Mainly because I dislike so much of second season that I don't know that I would pay ANYONE for it. >_> I think of it as rental only.

Well, actually, I personally was hoping for Right Stuf to pick up Get Backers...I think they did an AMAZING job with Kare-Kano that I would definitely have them do Get Backers...I wonder how they'll do with Gravitation's release date coming really fast (though there's no official date yet).

Funimation HAS improved tons since DBZ now that they have series like Furuba and Kiddy Grade (my friends - one of them from my school, a junior in my HS - is in the background during episode 11, so look for them in the dub!) under their belt, so I can see why you'd want them to do it.

*sigh* Only time will tell...and if ADV takes a friggin' year to get the series dubbed, well, like I said before, Get Backers already has a REALLY strong fan base, so we WILL kick some ass.

Thats it.

ADV must be destroyed.

I'v bared with it long enough.

Through the destruction of Steel Angel Kurumi.

Through the liscensing of Shin Hokuto no Ken (DAMN THEM!).

This is definantly the final straw.

Why couldn't someone like Synch Point get it?

They did MASTERFUL work with FLCL.

I'd even go with Pioneer because they X TV dub ROCKS.

Pfft, I would have put up with FUNi too, hoping this doesn't get the old DBZ screw-job.

But ADV?

Oh ho ho, it seems ADV has grown a sack and is gonna try and piss us off with a crappy dub.

Thank god for bilingual dvds, is all I have to say.

Oh, and if Chris Patton is ANY main male character on Get Backers, I am slitting my wrists. ^__^

They did MASTERFUL work with FLCL.

...and that's *ALL* they did, just about. Synch Point is a tiny outfit and they in NO WAY have the resources necessary to put out a 49-episode series.

ADV have it? Well, that makes me happy ^o^. Most of the time I'm more or less indifferent to dubs, but... I like ADV's dubs ^o^. I shocked myself with Excel Saga, I love the dub of that, haven't watched it subbed yet ^^;. It just doesn't feel right to me somehow XD... I always hope that things I like will be picked up by ADV, heh. Now, let's see, now we get to speculate who'll be who. Um... hell, just have Chris Patton voice everyone, his voice ownz me.

Happiness though, I'll finally be able to get nice sound clips of Emishi for my own personal amusement ^O^. Love for Emishi~~~

You all realize that if ADV is doing this, the sub is gonna suffer, too? I mean, lately, a LOT of groups are adding the "-san", "-chan", whatever suffixes to the subtitles, but ADV not only refuses to do this, they actually often revert from last names to first names. And, well, GB is a series where that'll hurt a little bit. I could care less about dubs, I never watch them anyways so they can't hurt me, but I don't think accurate subtitles are too much to ask for.

Like I said a million times in the post, since Get Backers already has a huge ass fanbase as it is, we can fight for it to get a good subtitle/dubbing job at ADV...maybe.

I didn't know that. Maybe I should watch FMP! and Prétear subbed to find this out.

I tend to just use the subtitles as a guide, anyway. I have ears, I can hear when someone's addressing someone as something different as to what the subtitles say, I don't worry about it. Someone who didn't know about it all might not get it, but someone who didn't know about all the different honour systems wouldn't be worried about it anyway... if that makes any sense~

They do sound randomly funny...I think I'd nominate him for Emishi...weird person, weird voice. XD

Then again, Emishi doesn't need to sound like he's 10 when he's definitely not.

Greg Ayres as Ginji...that wouldn't really fit him.

Boy am I glad that U.S. Manga's not translating it. They're earned my undying aminosity for what they did to Yami no Matsuei.
ADV doesn't bother me all that much...I don't watch dubs, and the subtitles are okay.
One of the professors I'm going to have works for ADV...One student I was talking to actually went to the studio and got to help dub Final Fantasy Unlimited.
I hope I get the chance to do that for GB >:D

I live in Houston, and ADV has an office located here. I've been dying to get an audition with them, and now I'm chomping at the bit even more. I think I'm just going to go down there and embarrass myself until they talk to me. haha Maybe not..
